Players start playing at age ZERO.

I'm beginning to get a little frustrated with some of the inappropriate stuff happening in leagues I'm creating. I'm using default settings, just playing OOTPX out of the box. (Well, out of the box with the most recent patch I could find.)

Today, I started a historical league in 1871, the first year allowed by the game. The only setting I changed was to not save box scores and game logs. I simulated from 1871 to 2016 with the intention of expanding the league manually at that point, and becoming manager of a new team.

Before starting, I took a look at the historical leaderboards. Ah, Barry Bonds hit 785 homers. Ah, Lou Gehrig has the best career batting average. Ah, John Murphy holds the record with 662 wins.

WHAT?

I had to look at this guy. 662 wins? Wait a minute... Drafted in 1883 by St. Louis, he went on to play for 38 seasons. And his birthday -- 5/5/82. Yes, he was drafted at the ripe young age of one. Played until he was 38. Ha ha, he retired early!

I looked around some more, and found another player -- Bill Sweeney. Bill was ALSO born on 5/5/82. And he made his Major League debut in 1881. Right, a year BEFORE he was born.

The screen shots below are John Murphy (first) and Bill Sweeney (second).

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Is this an old issue and my patch isn't working? Is this unique to me and my league?

Well, I did see one classic Twilight Zone episode the other night centering around a new pitcher for a last place baseball team that was really a robot.

Are you sure the AI isnt merging the players stats from past lives?

"I just couldn't find it in my heart to strike those poor fellows out."
Classic episode.

No... But how would I check for something like that?

The screen shots certainly suggest ONE career, not two different ones merged together. The stats remain consistent as if it was one player who actually played for 38 years.

I remember seeing something like this before on the board. I think it had something to do with the historical database not having birthdays for everyone and assigning a default (which obviously has a bug involved). I'm pretty sure it's a known issue that's being addressed, but you can try searching the boards to find out for sure.

This is a known issue with a handful of historical players with no birthday. Check Bill Sweeney out, for example. I have seen him pitch for 38 seasons.

If this isn't going to be fixed, could we sticky a thread where a list is compiled? That way we could at least fix them manually without having to scroll through each and every draft class.

I reported a handful of these on the first day that OOTPX was released.
