I'm confident Neags will revise his Development Tracker - and hopefully TeamRater, too - for this version. In addition, there's a recent thread from fhomess which includes details about how to implement his online utilities (one of which looked to be development) for the solo player in MySQL. The last is, currently, a bit over my head, but it may be worth looking into for you needs.

Thanks for the plug, EG. My development tracker and teamrater for this version of ootp will be available in about a week. Might be two if I get fancy or stuck or bored with it. The development tracker is probably ready but I'm working on something with it in relation to the teamrater so it's not quite ready for primetime yet.

My should-probably-learn and would-like-to-get-to list is a fairly long one, and I don't always make anywhere near the kind of progress or enjoy the degree of success (read that completion) I'd prefer, but life's short; you allocate time where you can, when you can, and hope for the best; hope that it isn't all in vain. I'm serious about my sig.
![]() In any event, picking up a couple of bargain books at Borders today, I also forced myself over to the PC section and picked up MySQL in 10 Minutes. It'll take the first 10 minutes to convince me I can cope, but at least it is there should I decide to increase the knowledge base. You never know, Af, you might be one of those guys that just takes right to something you thought was going to seem foreign.

However, I have decided not to include team ratings for each pitch. The novelty of seeing which team has the best fastball doesn't have much practical value. |

So I don't think I'm going to have the TeamRater finished by the end of this week. It's a lot more work than I thought. Nothing really difficult, just a lot of tedious typing (there's a lot of ratings!).
Here's the thing. What I'm doing with my two utilities (DevTracker and TeamRater) is combining them into one program. Essentially what this means is that you will be able to track a team's development as well as player development. The cool thing about that is that the TeamRater is going to use the same baseline as the DevTracker. So for the two people out there who have been using the DevTracker regularly (endgame and myself), you'll also be able to get Team ratings from any baseline date you have. This is where I need an opinion. The DevTracker part is ready. The TeamRater is not. So I can post what's ready, and you'll have one part of the program that works fine (DevTracker), and another part that will look half finished. The reason a user might want to do this is so that he can keep making baselines as the league goes along and eventually when the TeamRater is finished, you get TeamRatings already included using those baselines. TeamRater being unfinished in no way affects DevTracker, however. So what say ye? (I'm anticipating about 2 replies, so if you vote, it will really count!) |

I'm still in Spring Training. I can wait for the bundle, but anything goes. Thanks for all you do, Neags.

Neags, like Endgame I'm happy to wait....but also happy to try it if you need some feedback. Thanks for all the work you've put in to these mods, it's appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I've uploaded the program here. Just run the .exe file as long as the .dll files are in the same folder. There aren't any new features in devTracker, yet, except that it works with OOTPX, and you can track individual pitches. If you have any feature ideas/requests, throw 'em at me. Feel free to peruse the TeamRater tab, but the results are limited to pitching, and they don't yet go off of the baseline, just the most recent export. Afino, I haven't tested this on a Vista machine, but will do so when I get home tonight. I'm hoping to have the TeamRater section ready by Tuesday, as I'm going out of town on Wednesday and probably won't have time to work on this until I'm back after the weekend. If anyone has any questions/problems/comments, feel free to PM or email (email address is in the "help -> about" menu). Last edited by Neags23; 07-09-2009 at 01:19 PM. |
