Wrong analogy.

A company's purpose for releasing a game's demo, and the role which the release of a demo plays in the development process of a particular game, are both highly variable.
As Carlton_Willey said, your analogy fails. |

Company's purpose? What are you talking about? Isn't it about attracting new, potential customers too? And besides, isn't a demo supposed to be a preview of the full product? I'm no hardcore gamer though, so I don't know the policy in that business.

Since this game allows to you play the game in full for a peroid of time (game time or real time), it would be impossible for them to release the demo before the game is.

Well, it's funny now.
I was searching for it, but now it's gone.....but my other thread about the demo is still around, that's kinda weird. I cant remember the name but he did have ootp dev under his name, probably was an honest mistake, keep in mind this was when the game first came out, first day...I asked and was told exactly one month from that date, which was the 1st. no big deal though |

Frequently, companies make available demo versions of games whose full versions are not yet ready for release. I assume that this is what you were referring to, with your movie trailer analogy. At other times, companies release demos after games have already been available, as a light version of the whole game. The "purpose" for releasing the demo is the same in both cases, but there are two separate circumstances and approaches, which result in differing demo release dates. Pardon me for not being clear.

The only thing said about the Demo was approximately one month after release, approximately being the key word.

And there it is. Only took us eight replies to get to it.
