Has AI roster management been improved in OOTPB 10?
I've enjoyed OOTPB 9, but one area in which it's been perfectly dreadful is AI roster management. A typical example is the AI demoting a decent 40/80 pitcher with respectable numbers and calling up a horrible pitcher from AA or AAA as a replacement--a 20/80 guy projected to have a 9.50 ERA, for example. Or, an outfielder with pathetic offense and mediocre defense being called up when a team already has six OFs.
I'd like to know if this issue has been at all remedied in version 10. If it has, that fix alone is worth the price of the upgrade. If not, that's a shame--it's a huge black mark against an otherwise very good game. It's just too much work for me to have to manage the roster for every team in my league. |

There is still a problem with the AI releasing promising young pitchers right after the initial draft and releasing quickly players it just acquired in a trade. Other than these two issues the AI is a lot better than in past iterations.

I haven't heard of the young pitcher problem but releasing players after a trade has always bothered me for many versions. It's annoying to toss in a guy that all of a sudden makes the AI want to accept the trade and then immediately release that guy. Drunk GM.

I'm still seeing a LOT of minor leaguers signed and released over and over and over, sometimes by the same team. Signed May 1, released May 6, signed again May 17, released May 19, signed by another team May 20, released May 29, etc.

I'd guess this is a result of the minor league DL and the need for players to be signed/released to fill holes in the mind of the AI. While this is not technically the case before the short season leagues start up. I however have no evidence that this is why this is happening - it could be something totally different.

![]() The AI is dumb. The AI will always be dumb. The AI in all computer sims is dumb -- except for chess, but then it is still dumb, but brute force makes it seem smart. That is the best you can expect. |

Im sure he tries but when you fix one problem it creates a new and unexpected one.
