Guy's career cut short; should he be in the HOF?
this guy was drafted 9th overall, made the ASG 8 times and won 3 gold gloves, but suffered a broken kneecap, forcing him to retire at 33. so, should he be in the hall of fame?

only 1 player, because i didnt want any inaugural players making it so i erased all stats after the first 20 years. but think about it, at age 33 he was at 2000 career hits, im pretty sure he coulda gotten to 3000, or at least close...

What position did he play? Even if he played something like CF, he would still be a borderline 'Hall of Very-Good' player. Plus, that -0.2 VORP in 2039 doesn't help his case.
He should not be in the hall of fame.

No. Great players get a break if they were dominant for semi-long stretches but merely above average players don't. Letting a guy in for just 3000 hits is a token to longevity- not necessarily recognizing that they were better than anyone else in their ERA. But saying this guy was on pace to 3,000 hits is not grounds enough- that's why 3,000 hits is a benchmark.

I always like to ask myself: if you were to make an all-star team of the best players during this player's best decade, would he make it? If so, he's a HoFer.

In order to get in with a shortened career, the players needs to be one of the top two or three players in the league for nearly all of his years played.Does he fit that bill? I can't see how with those numbers,I mean a .350 OBA is run of the mill, and so is a career high of 28 homers in a season.

I guess I should have said that this is with SkyDogs stats where in 50 years one player had a season with 50 HRs. His 162 game average of 28 HRs is pretty good I'd say. His career OPS is just a shade under what Albert Pujols has done so far in his career and the guy won 5 MVPs in 10 seasons.

alright, here he is on the career leaderboard:
BA: 25th H: 5th HR: 12th (t) 2B: 6th 3B: 10th VORP: 12th RBI: 7th R: 10th now on the LF career leaderboard: BA: 4th H: 3rd HR: 4th 2B: 2nd 3B: 2nd VORP: 6th RBI: 2nd R: 2nd so, as you can see, he was one of the best at his position |

There's one guy on this list of post 1961 LF/RF that I'd consider a potential HOF. That's Raines, and that's because on top of his good hitting, he's one of the best basestealers ever. Is your leagues' hitting really that weak over all these 40 years? Code:
