AAA-AI keeps playing my backup catcher

So I have Jorge Posada and Rick Wilkins on my AAA team. I want Jorge to get most of the playing time so against both R and L in my depth chart Jorge is the starter and Rick is only "If starter is tired." Jorge is definitely in both my R and L lineup.

After simming my MLB team I noticed that back in AAA Rick was getting pretty much all the playing time. So I switched him to "Never" and he's still getting the time! There's no DH in this league so the other two R+L lineups shouldn't matter. I eventually took Rick right off the depth chart to no avail. There is no lineup or depth chart where Rick is starting or subbing.

How can I stop Rick from getting most of the playing time short of running him over with a golf cart?

Go to your manager options and make sure you have the minor league lineups set to human.

I checked and I was already selected for running everything listed under Team Control Settings.

Even simpler, go to player page_action_set game strategy_force start. He will then be the starting catcher.

And failing that cut Wilkins and go with 1 catcher on the team.

Thoughm knowing the AI sometimes, this will mean your backup 2B will get the majority of playing time behind the plate. *smacks forehead*

and after that, your 8th inning pitcher...

"now, a defensive replacement at catcher for the cubs, it's... IT'S... Carlos Marmol??? Kevin Gregg??? Who even knows?!"

I think I have noticed a bug that has existed for several game versions with the minor league catcher postion- the AI seems to reverse the depth chart, not just at AAA. You may be seeing the same thing.

Gah! I can't stop it! It happens with other AAA position too. I have all my preferred starters set to be forced to start at their position, I have Wilkins completely off the depth chart and I am set to control everything at all levels for my team. Two months into the season Wilkins has 95% of the at bats!

This is really making me nuts because none of my choices are being respected for the AAA level and I realize now I've simmed ten years like this. No matter what I choose the AI ignores it.

Make sure you're setting the correct lineup - if your AAA team is DH, set the RHP+DH and LHP+DH lineup and vice versa if it is not DH.

Also, make sure 7 day lineups are turned off.

Usually I find that is the problem if people aren't playing like I expect them to.
