Not really. I had a starter with a 27 endurance win 18 games for me. Admittedly it was a dominant team but he averaged under 6 innings per start. Later on his endurance went to 25 and I made him a set up guy.

I think it would be a disservice to not consider starters with limited endurance. In a modern day set up most starters have limited endurance anyway. My example above is a bit extreme and allowed by the new pitching algorithm in vX. In previous versions it was common for me to use starters with 60-65 endurance (when 50 was the cut off).

For a realistic experience Molarmite should do what RL baseball people do. Throw him out there and see what happens.

I'll post a screenshot later.

Here's the guy I was talking about. I just noticed, looking through his career stats that I pitched him less than prior owners. It's a small sample size, but he lasted nearly all season. He was injured in the end, but keep in mind he's 33 years old.

EDIT: see below

Also note that he pitched 6.27 innings per game. I took a chance with this guy, because the manual explained that the new "stamina" meant something different than the "Endurance" rating in prior versions. I'm convinced of that now.
