Spring Training Question
Hey...does anyone know why the computer automatically calls up prospects from your minor leagues during spring training, and if this counts as a option when you send them back down for the start of the regular season? My fear is that my younger players who i send down every year will run out of options bc they keep getting sent down after spring training.
Also for a picture update...I like being a general manager...does anyone else think that it would be nice to have a picture of your guy in a suit instead of in a baseball uniform. Or even a polo. I like being the general manager of the team...a-la brian cashman...and it would look weird to see cashman in a yankees uniform. Please Markus!!! Add Suit pics as an option so that I can feel like a real GM! THanks...feedback would be appreciated on my question and suit picture. Grey |

With regards to the first point, that is how real life works and OOTP has been updated to reflect that. If you don't want a minor leaguer to run out of options, don't put them on the 40 man roster as spring training rolls round.

I do, however, like the second option - perhaps a default template, with the color of the tie and/or shirt changing to match the colors of the team (via stripes) as an added touch.

You can temporarily alter your secondary roster size to avoid players being invited to spring training. Whether this circimvents the option rules or not, I do not know, but if it does, it's cheating.......

The thing that is different with this version and the automatic ST callups is that players who are out of options can no longer be protected by simply not inviting them to ST. The current treatment is correct since IRL all players who are out of options must clear waivers to remain with their current team.
In older versions of the game players with a minor-league contract who were out of options at the beginning of the season, did not make the opening-day roster and got claimed off waivers were simply transferred to the claiming team's minor league system though, thus defeating the whole point of the waiver system. I am not sure if this flaw has been addressed in X or not. Last edited by Pirate Fan; 09-03-2009 at 02:33 PM. |
