My apologies for asking
as I'm sure this has been asked a million times before but I have honestly searched the forums and am not finding a quick answer.
I've been away from OOTP for several years and now back in again... but I remember that at one point you actually had to download a seperate file to get the historical players and current major leaguers. I see in this game you can quick-start a new 2009 league and all the players are in there... but yet when I've gone back and tried to start my own game and make some changes - for instance setting up my own league - the game always gives me fictional players... so am I doing something wrong... or do I have to download a file from somewhere? Also... I'm very interested in creating my own 'restructuring' of MLB. Meaning I want real teams and real players and starting in 2009... but for instance I want to move the Royals to the NL Central (where they should have gone) and the Houston Astros to the AL West to even up the leagues. But again, I want to use the real teams and keep the real players on there. Is there any 'simple' way to do this? I guess I'm just lost. Thanks in advance. |

The file is included with the game now. To make a game with non-fictional players, go with either the MLB 2009 Quickstart or the historical option depending on what kind of players you want. To move teams around, go into League Setup once the league is made.

Once I've created the league I see I can go in and edit the names of the teams... so for instance I can change the Pirates to the Royals...
but I don't see any option to actually restructure the league so I can't move the Astros to the AL West. I can 'change' the Royals and Pirates but then I have to actually physically go in and replace both their rosters. You'd think there would be an easier way so maybe I'm just not seeing it. **** in fact it says you can't change the structure of a standard or historical league. So the only option is to create a purely fictional league to restructure the leagues? that seems like a huge flaw in this game to me. so again, maybe I'm missing something.... **** and unless I'm missing something again, the only way to have real rosters is to select from the main screen that you want to start a 2009 game.... at which point it gives me no option to even set rules or anything and I know that must be not accurate. I'm doing something wrong.... back to more research. NEVERMIND!!!!! I found it and have figured it out I think..... thanks. Last edited by rberney; 09-05-2009 at 01:04 AM. |

With a 2009 game, you're getting the current MLB rules as well as the rosters and league setup.
