Better trading suggestions

Ditch the "untouchable" status, as the AI never uses it anyway. Keep the status' as either "unknown", or "on the block". Rid of the "shop player" function, and ramp up the way the AI looks at the trading block. To me, the shop player function is just not realistic.

At least allow the Shop Player feature to let you offer multiple players in a trade.
And on the flip side, allow the AI to offer multiple players for players you shop around.

Roy Halladay was shopped, not just put on the block. J.P. Ridumbo made the announcment in the press and every sports site he could think of that he would listen to offers for Halladay.

That's shopping a player, a feature I happen to like in the game.

Maybe an option to disable it, but not getting rid of it.

AFAIK, in OOTP terms that is equivalent to being put on the trading block -- because the player in question knows what is going on (which affects morale in OOTP). When a player is shopped in OOTP, he does not know this, and therefore morale is unaffected.

It's a bit of a mystery as to why the AI can't be programmed to make multiple player offers, both in response to shopping a player, but also in response to a "Make this deal work now" request. I say this because the AI is obviously able to formulate multiple player offers when communicated thru email. There may be some data formatting/display problem at work, I suppose.

I thought shopping a player does affect is morale.

I agree, it's not. But it is a compromise between arduously offering the player to every single team and essentially displaying a list of players that you could trade for at all times.

I'm OK with it.

I'd just like to have the function like in EHM. I put 2-3 guys together and say, "offer to all teams", and each team gives me an offer to play with. That makes it so maybe individually I might not get a 1 for 1 offer for some players, but maybe I can shop a 2- or 3-for-1 type deal.

Presumably the AI checks the trading block on some routine schedule, like the waiver wire (perhaps every day?). Isn't the trading block virtually the same as shopping around a player every day? Or is there some essential difference that isn't occurring to me at the moment (otherwise known as a "senior moment" I believe ).

How about like Proposed Trades in the News like lets say David Wright from the Mets to the Green Bay Packers for Brett Farve and so on if you have the NFL League in your League to meaning the Mets have the option to reject it or accept it or send back a counter offer like in NHL Eastside Hockey Manager.
Rumor Mill would be good to and along with Organzation Report Page that would show Top Prospects,Team meaning maybe Marlins Delph Chart meaning like Top Catcher maybe John Baker to worst one like maybe Gren Murphy at the moment because not ready for the Majors but could move up spots if develops better from your MLB team to Short season team and like bester Hitter,Best Pinch Hitter and so on.

The shop player forces responses when you want, you don't have to wait for a trade to come to you....

but putting a player on the block....should trigger teams coming to you...so long as the player can help them.

Umm, you realize that Favre doesn't play baseball, right?

No, but he has 292 consecutive starts....only about 2400 more to go to break Cal Ripken's record

You are absolutely 100% correct on this one. I have yet to see a team giving me an offer for a player that I have on the trading block.

But as Markus would say, it is working as intended.

But do you get offers on the same players by using the shop around function? I don't do a lot of trading, so I've never spent much time analyzing this aspect of the game. It's certainly possible that the trading block function is essentially non-functional (it wouldn't be the only example of this in OOTP).

Shop player is what I use when I want to trade one of my players and I don't want to wait for an AI team to get around to proposing a deal. The only drawback is that I usually get crap offered back to me in return.
