Understanding High School
I just added a High School feeder league into my Major League replay.
I did this for the sole purpose of creating a young player and watching him through high school and his trip to the pros. I noticed that new players are introduced on June 15th and start at 15 years old and some stay until 19 years old. Those ages seem off to me, shouldn't be 14-18. Take for instance someone that has a birthday after June 15, they are added as a 15 year old and immediately turn 16? I was already a junior in HS at 16. This leads to these questions 1. How can I change the creation dates and ending dates? 2. Do players from High School feeder go into a college feeder or are they draft eligible? 3. Should I just add my player as a 14 year old and he will turn 15 like the other players since his birthday is in July? Thanks |

2. High school players after they graduate become draft eligible. It depends how many rounds however your MLB draft is. I started mine at 50 but realized that even with a 140 team college feeder and 40 team H.S. feeder that I couldn't rely fully on these feeders to fill a 50 round draft pool so I lowered the number of rounds to about 30 while generating enough players for 35 rounds which others here have said works pretty well in terms of generating realistic talent. 3. Sounds like you fixed your problem by setting the min age to 14. How is your H.S. feeder setup? # of teams, settings. I am curious to hear from other people because I noticed that even when I set my modifiers to 1 for H.S. I am still getting really inflated stats such as really high ERA's for pitchers. It seems like the league average is 8.00-10.00+ ERA's! |

1. For the first year you do 15-18 and to fill the league with all ages, after that you set it to 15-15 so that only freshmen are coming into the league to replace the sr who have moved to the draft.
2. They go straight to the draft, there is no way to go from HS to collage, Markus has said that it is too hard to get into the game. 3. if his b-day is after the June draft he should stay the extra year at the end. aka he will only be 18 when the players are pulled for the draft so not over the age limit, so play the whole year at 19.

Well,
This is my 4th league that is screwed up. I added the HS feeder league in 1991. It is now 1997 and no stats or history are available after the 1991 season. The players progressed and moved to the majors and the player history is correct having them win awards in the right year. The stats are not correct and players who entered in the league in 1996 have 1991 stats... The league history starts and ends in 1991. Another league ruined. This is the 4th one and I have never had this problem with OOTP. I am going back to version 9 I guess.... |

There are quite a few people who are 19 in June after they graduate.

To answer the question about college, no, the game currently cannot support feeder leagues donating to multiple leagues, or a chain of HS-college-MLB. The high ERA isn't actually that far off. My high school league ERA was close to 8.

One awesome feature in future versions would be the ability to maybe set a % of high school players who would go to college rather then opting for the pros. It would add so much to the game, you could follow a guys career from Central High to the New York Yankees for example, it would be pretty cool.

There were 4 or 5 guys in my high school who were 19 as seniors.

Yea by default HS and somewhat in College, the batting is way too good. I adjusted the modifiers quite a bit for those two leagues and now they are both in the 4.5-5.5 ERA range.
