home/away uniforms.

But I agree with the people who say about fixing an many issues as possible with bugs and so forth.

I think some of the best features, if they can be done, has been suggested by Corsair.

Home/Away uniform should be one of the "small" new features. I think all the current users would be pleased to see away unis implemented, especially the modders out there. Need to keep those guys happy, such as Padresfan.

Wait a second. There was an entire forum dedicated to suggestions for the next version of OOTP and now this thread in addition? There are TONS of good suggestions in there, so why do we need this? Good stuff is going to be missed because of this. Bad idea, IMO.

There's always the chance for oversight, but . . .

A sophisticated and immersive sound file.

A feature that will allow me to see how many pitches each of my relievers has thrown over the past 5 days so I don't have to click on each one independently. Or, better yet, put their fatigue % next to their name.

Still thinking it takes too long to warm up a relief pitcher.

I'd start laying the groundwork for adding graphics down the road. By graphics I simply mean dots moving around. Perhaps in this iteration you can have the pitcher-dot throwing a pitch to the catcher-dot to begin each play.

More Team-Splits please.

The ability to loan out players to other teams without having to edit their team.

ie, properly functioning Winter Leagues or World Baseball Classic, where players remain property of their proper club but are able to play for another team without accumulating service time

Realistic bullpens, i.e. leaving them in the pen for 5 innings or getting them up and down will fatigue them just like the game.

1. An expanded team history page - most RBI's in a game, hits in a game, walks etc, etc.
2. On the champions page player pictures stay in the correct jersey
3. Editable achievements would be a good one
4. Better scheduling options - i.e choose days that you play on and days where you never play

All big issues I know ...

I would love to see a more dynamic feeder system and draft. Signing bonuses and negotiating with draft picks would be ag huge addition to the game.

One other thing I've always wanted to see was the ability to send players from my organization to play in the winter leagues, much in the way they work in real life, rather than having them be seperate leagues with their own roster of players.

An Arizona Fall League type winter league system is high upon my wish list.

Sure, this is something I personally would be interested in, but until recently I wouldn't have suggested it as a bullet point kind of improvement. Over the last few years, though, the MLB amateur draft has become an increasingly big deal. All of a sudden you've got the draft being shown in prime time on ESPN. Players like Stephen Strasburg are getting extensive coverage from mainstream new sources. Fans are starting to pay attention to college (and even high school) baseball to pick out the rising stars. Some agents have reached almost celebrity status thanks to their negotiating tactics.

Clearly there's a buregoning interest in the amateur draft and everything that surrounds it. Since this is an area I believe a lot of current OOTP'ers would like to see beefed up anyway, OOTP XI would be the perfect opportunity to break these new features in. Amongst the ideas to consider (in no particular order):
  • Enable high school players to "graduate" to a league's college feeder system.
  • Add agents into the game, each with their own particular methods and quirks.
  • Introduce signing bonuses.
  • Allow top prospects to issue contract/bonus demands (through their agents) prior to the draft.
  • Rather than automatically assigning new draftees, force GMs to negotiate contracts with them. While most lesser draftees will sign for slot money, negotiations with top prospects could prove more tricky.
  • In addition to contract/bonus demands, allow for other means of player negotiating leverage, including:
    • Threatening to sign with a college
    • Threatening to sign with an independent league (or simply sitting out until next year's draft if no such league exists)
    • Pre-warning his desire (or lack thereof) to be drafted by a particular orginization
  • Create other signing considerations beyond money:
    • Predilection for signing with a team due to its proximity to his home town and/or school
    • The presence (or lack thereof) of established players/high-profile prospects blocking the new draftee's path
    • GMs reputation
  • Regadring GM reputation, consider tracking this. Teams with GMs who sign players to large contracts and generally show a willingness to funnel money into player development would be more desireable landing spots for new draftees, while those who play hardball could get blacklisted.
  • Take the reputation idea farther by allowing GMs to make promises/assurances to top players and their agents. As examples: "We guarantee you this role in our organization," or, "You'll be with the big league club in no more than 2 years." If those promises are fulfilled, reputation increases (and vice versa).
  • Build the hype by starting to show news stories about top draft-eligible players on the main league's page starting 60 days from the amateur draft, and also during the feeder league(s) playoffs.
  • Imbue these players with personality! You often hear about the "makeup" of a player. Is he a hothead? Does he have a penchant for upsetting his teammates or getting into trouble off the field? If so, let's see some new stories related to this. These kinds of makeup issues could carry over to a player's pro career, giving GMs an extra thing to consider when drafting. Strive to make players as three-dimensional as possible!
  • OOTP already allows the trading of draft picks, something that can't be done in MLB. I would suggest going further with this. For instance, the NHL allows for conditional draft pick trading (e.g. I give you a 3rd rounder, but it could become a 1st rounder depending on something occurring). Look to other pro leagues for creative expansions of the draft pick trading model.
  • Live analysis of first round picks during the draft. ESPN has a panel of "experts" sounding off on picks as they happen; why not BNN?
By no means would anyone reasonably expect all of these features to get added into OOTP XI. This should be taken as a jumping off point. Pick and choose what you think would be the most valuable/easy-to-implement additions and have at it. Overall, though, I can't think of a more apropos area of improvement to explore if you're looking to attract the casual baseball fan's attention (and please your current user base at the same time).

How about something that would create a little more revenue for you all? An addon that would allow us to create our own databases. I realize if we have the know how, we can do that now, but it is cumbersome at best.
For example: I could add a college or any league or team using real players and stats by inputting the info into the program and have the program do all the necessary conversions needed to be usable by the game.
This way, we'd all have up to date rosters and stats at any time. If a player got traded we could simply load the current roster, add the player, make the changes and poof, we've got an up to date database. We could add all the real life player draftees when draft time comes around and they would be added to the draft pool. etc.
Any DB errors, and we could fix them on our own and not have to wait for patches. It would also possibly free up some of your time having to fix db issues. Just a thought. Now back to the game.....

I'd like to see in addition to the above,
1. The ability for us to play an unlimited amount of sound files that we create and have them able to be called from the PBP.
Example: An announcer announces the player coming to bat or when the home team has a rally going, the crowd cheers for them such as let's go Red Sox.....let's go Red Sox.... Or hearing the ump call "Srike 2" or my favorite, Harry Carey singing take me out to the ballgame during the 7th inning stretch.
You don't have to create the actual sound files, just allow us the ability to do it if we want.

2. Use the manager's name in the pbp instead of the generic "the manager comes to the mound" sort of thing we see so often.

3. Also be nice to see the umpires names announced and used in the pbp

4. Ability to edit the night Ballpark player and ball locations. It's next to impossible to find ones that line up the same.

Almost forgot!!!
5. Ability to use the mouses's back and forward buttons to maneuver through the screens.

We can now lock players into starting at a particular position. Please add the ability to

1. lock players into a spot in the batting order (medium priority)

2. lock players into a minor league level. IE I want to let the AI run my minors except for a few chosen players I am grooming. (very high on my priority list)

In short, I want to be able to tell my minor league managers that I want Joe Baseball to play 3b, hit 4th, and stay at AA until I decide to promote him to AAA. Anyone I'm not personally grooming that the AI mangers want to move is fine with me, just leave Joe Baseball, and his kind, alone. They're all mine

-My big one: I'd like to see more immersion with the players and media interaction.
-Ability to lock players into their lineup spots.
-More options for incentives with player contracts.
-High School feeding into College.
-Posting fees for international free agents.
-Player agents. It would be fun to deal with a Boras type in the draft or free agents/contract extensions.
-Realistic Arizona Fall League, other offseason leagues.

1. I would like human managers/gms to have a contract with monetary value based on experience.

2. Organization strategy. If you are like the Twins and are more into developing players or Yankees who go after free agents. Kind of like the managers strategy and have it based off current Gm.

3. Player and manger personality's. Having a Ozzie Guillen/Joe Torre type, Or having the hothead like T.O/Milton Bradley compared to the Derek Jeter type.

4. All-Star uniforms. All-star teams have the customization the regular teams have, so you don't have to change all the teams uni's to have the players show up in the uni in the photo.

5. All-star game stats and MVP award.

6. To be able to retire a player's number/have all-time team list for best players.

7. Have players refuse to sign/extend contract if organization didn't treat them well or too many losing seasons(similar to when you withdraw a contract in the current version).

8. Have other coaches put in more input. Minor batting/pitching coaches telling you if someone is killing it in the minors and is ready.

9. Home/away/alternate jerseys. I had to say this just because..

10. Rank the all time best teams/ best organizations or vice/versa.

11. Add more the player streaks lists.

12. Have the best comebacks, blowouts, playoff shockers(ie 2004 yankees/red sox).

11. Fine tune current engine. It is a great product already.

I think that is it for now. Other may have said the same things, but they should be mentioned again.

Thanks development for listening even if you can't put all the great suggestions in the new game. I have never seen a game where the consumer can put in their input. We are very, very lucky that these threads exist.

-more realistic player aging and development (no RonCo settings this year sucked!)
-max contract amount (makes sense for salary cap'd leagues)
-bonus demands for the amateur draft
-some control over merchandising revenue
-control over the allocation of pitcher creation types (ie. 60% starter, 30% MR, 10% CL, modern era distribution doesn't fit well for older era's. Even just a RP Stamina pcm would be welcome.)
-An OSA Scouting accuracy setting
-Additional public draft prospect rating services (a mock draft would be fun)
-A green light option for base stealing, to let them run on their own, if they get a jump.
-Revamped pitcher fatigue. (short back to back appearances are too punishing)
