Strategy settings after patch question

The option for letting your coach/bench coach automatically select your strategy seems to be gone. The only option I see is manual now. Was this auto option removed on purpose?

Its there I believe unless you are talking about something different. Strategy then action at the bottom.

I don't see it there either. Only see Reset Strategy under the "Action" button.

I logged this as BZ3610

Yes, when you select Action now your only choice is to reset Strategy. Thats it, no other options anymore. I for one liked the auto option. I adjusted it as I wished after. I don't want to manually enter all strategy.

Strange its there for me. Let me double check to make sure the patch was installed.

EDIT: Yes I am on version 10.4.29 and that option is there. I started a new fictional league when the latest patch came out.

It's there for me as well. I am able to ask the Manager, Bench Coach and Reset Strategy.

This is either a vague memory, flashback, or a flat-out hallucination, but I seem to recall this coming up quite awhile back and what I "think" I recall is even with coaches off you want to have that position 'filled'. So I guess what I'm asking is if you have coaches off, turn them on, then check to see if there IS a bench coach, etc... if there are any voids, fill 'em in and turn the option back off again. I know it sounds a little silly, but this issue was something on that order. Let me know. Tx, Rock.

Coaches have to be on to see that option.

For the record, I wish you could use that option whether you had a coach, no coach, coaches on, coaches off, whatever.

I can verify, in the version I'm working with right now, this is true.

If you have coaches turned off, who do you think you are asking for strategy? And if you could identify said apparition, what would they base their recommendations on? The only reason that manager and bench coaches can set strategy is because they have strategy preferences. That is what you are asking when you do that: to have the team strategy sliders match the strategy preferences of either the manager or the bench coach. Otherwise the game engine sets the sliders at the middle point in all cases (unless they were somewhere else when you turned coaches off, in which case they won't change). Without someone with strategy preferences to ask, there isn't anyone to set your team strategies but you.

This may very well be the case now, but if so it is a change in behavior from before.

I can take the same league file from before to now and in the old patch you had the ability with coaches turned off to ask the AI for strategy. In the new patch with the same league file you no longer do.

Everything else is still there to ask the AI (setting lineups, rotations, etc. Only strategy is missing).

It is only gone when coaches are disabled, which is the way it should be. All the function does is copy the coaches preferences...

So, the removal is essentially a bug-fix.

Interesting...running the latest patch and still have the option despite having scouts/coaches disabled.

You might want to check that again carefully. I'm running the latest patch and definitely do *not* have the option with scouts/coaches disabled.

So, when coaches are disabled, do all non-player-controlled-teams have default vanilla strategies that cannot be changed? Or will the AI change them?

I liked the option of the AI being a proxy coach so to speak. I enjoyed using the AI to fill everything out and I would review and alter as I saw fit. Doing each and every situation can be a bit tedious. So pre patch AI option or bug on, now off. Oh well thats progress. Still love the game though. It appears my strategy may be a bit vanilla when I don't play out games.
