In my solo league, the Chicago Cubs have a defensive whiz at shortstop, who goes by the name of Newt Yuke. I just find the name fascinating, is all.

There was a Rich Player once...but he wasn't talented enough to become a rich player.
I worked on the names files so I don't get a lot of bizarre names anymore. The best I have now is Ray Ray. I do have Jim Zorn, but I don't know how much longer he'll be around.

Oh, I do remember that the LA Dodgers' double-play combination is Bobby Jones at shortstop, and Bob Jones at second.
Bob Jones played for the Braves, and was dealt to the Dodgers right before the trade deadline. A week later, the Braves decided to be lazy and not take the nameplate off the jersey; they went out and made a trade with Kansas City, to acquire a different Bobby Jones. |

I just got the best name ever.
I've been simming into the very far future. I'm in the 2250s, so I have the history of baseball from 1871-2256 right now. Nearly 300 years. I came home from work today to see where I was and if anyone broke the all time hits and home run records. I saw that someone did break the HR record. I see that the guy hit 900 HR and that he also hit 75 in a single year to break the single season record. (This guy hit 903 HR, including a 1.000+ OPS and 46 HR in 108 games at age 40 when he got a career ending injury of all things!) Anyway, I digress; when I open up the single season HR leaderboards, the 4th guy on the list is Cy Young. Id do a double take. But no, it's true! A guy on the Phillies named Cy Young hit 68 home runs in 2255. And, looking at his career, he's a shoe-in HOFer. He's 29, a six time all star, 3 time MVP and has bout 470+ career home runs already. Not only a second Cy Young, but a second HOF Cy Young! |

In my major solo league, there are players named:
Mike Myers Edward Wall, a 265 lb. catcher Ralph Kay, a starting pitcher with great stuff Many pitchers with terrible control and a last name of Walker Pete Short, 5'9" second baseman Juan Tofoli, not a cool name but he's friggin 7 feet tall! Last edited by damientheomen3; 12-07-2009 at 11:25 PM. |

One of my favorite passages of his ever... "Scott Brown is not any browner than anyone else, Vida is definitely not blue, nor for that matter is Darryl Motley."
