Custom Playoffs - Anybody tried it?

I have been toying with the idea of running a league and using custom playoffs, a la March Madness. I have a 28 team league and was going to have only 1 subleague so all the teams play each other and then the top 16 make the playoffs and are seeded 1-16. My question is has anybody tried this and if so what were the results. I've run some test seasons with 8 team playoffs and I had varied results, but I'd like to hear the community's thoughts on this, thanks!

I've tried it with a 40-team fictional league with 2 sub-leagues. I did it similar to how the NBA does it, with the top 8 in each league making the playoffs, and seeding determined the matchups. Worked pretty well, but the injuries would really rack up to the point that when I got to the Finals, the two teams had injuries to key players.

I started a league where there were 8 divisions in 1 subleague and 6 in the other. The 8 division league had its top teams only reach the playoffs, while the 6-division league had two wild cards. I never did finish a season in that league (long story), but I'll hopefully give it another shot at some point.

What do you mean by varied results? What results are you looking for? If you don't like the way home field is assigned, you can go into the schedule editor and change it.
