Can Spring Training Schedules be Customized?

I found a thread from 2006 where Markus actually said that the spring training schedule was just a generated 24-game schedule with 1-game series and that these settings were not customizable. Is that still true?

I play historical, and I'd like to make the spring training schedule a little more realistic (and maybe throw some teams from the other league in there as well), but how can I tinker with the spring schedule without possibly messing up the regular season schedule? I import my regular season schedules from XML files and I'm in Preseason of 1979 right now. I know the Spring Training schedule won't get generated until I proceed into Spring Training. Can I manually edit the ST schedule after it's generated? Is there anyway to create an XML file for a spring training schedule and have the game use that instead?

I'm also curious what happens if I check the "interleague" box for the schedule generation but leave it setup to import schedules from XML files. Does that mean the game will still use real life regular season schedules but generate interleague spring training schedules for me?

If anyone has done any tinkering with this, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

Well, to my knowledge Markus is still correct (duh, ya think? ) in that you cannot import a user-created spring schedule. But, you can modify the spring schedule (probably after it has been created by the game) to meet your needs using the schedule editor (go to Game > Game Setup > League Setup > Edit League Schedule). You can schedule games against other leagues or double headers or off days as you wish. The editor is pretty easy to use.

What you propose in the third paragraph will not work. The imported schedule must match the setting in-game (such as the interleague checkbox). Basically your game will not import a schedule in your scenario - it will just create one instead that does have interleague.

Good luck and enjoy the schedule editor.

Beware of trying this on an important league. I can't remember the precise steps, but I used the XML to import my own spring schedule.

The problem was that because of it, the AI never figured out that my league had gone into the regular season and it stayed in the preseason all year.

It would have caused massive issues if my league were a traditional OOTP league. Luckily, I recreate my league disk from scratch each year, so the pain only lasted so long.

I'm not saying don't try, but more along the lines that, if you do, make sure you test it thoroughly into the season before playing the real league. There's no way to kick OOTP to tell it that you've entered the Regular Season, postseason, etc. So you do not want to experience the problem that I had.
