$1 changes a trade

I don't play solo very much so I don't know how long this has been an issue or if people already know about it, but I'm finding that adding $1 to a trade will change the AI's response drastically.

With no cash being offered, the AI will only accept one player from me when I click "Make this work now": Elijah Dukes - 24 years old, 4.5 stars. I accidentally typed $1 instead of $1,000,000 when seeing if cash would help the deal, and when I click the "make it work" button then, they ask for 11 different players, one of them a 27-year-old SP with 1/2 star current rating and 2-star potential.

While the other additional players they ask for are pretty good, $1 should not change the trade at all. It makes me question how the AI values cash and whether I should just not be offering it at all now - how can I know that I'm playing fair even when offering realistic sums of money?

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm using the MLB quickstart.

This has been a long-running issue that insignificant amounts of cash sway the AI.

Usually, most players have to put house rules in to not add cash, since it's so easy to take advantage.

I saw it once in beta testing. I was trying to trade for an old guy on waivers in July to use as a PH and platoon 1B. I tried to give several different prospects, but no dice. But the AI would take $1, as you saw.

It isn't super easy to reproduce, so I don't think it ever got fixed.

I'll just confirm that I've seen similar behavior a number of times (and I'm not a particularly active trader). I suspect it's a issue that never got teed up for work in OOTP10. It should be given high priority for OOTP11. I don't desist from adding cash entirely, but like any other factor in a trade, try to make it realistic as much as I can.

This is really frustrating when I'm trying to make a trade that puts the AI over budget, but I don't want to offer cash not knowing if it's legit. This should be given top priority for v11, since X apparently is done being patched. It makes trading cash essentially unusable.

Perhaps the AI really wants to get something on the value menu.

Yes. I was visualizing the AI thinking "Man, I'd kill right now for some McNuggets. If only I had a dollar. Oh, wait."

Its as easy asd that... the AI wont do this type deal between each other (Add a dollar to swing a deal)

Its all about policing yourself... otherwise yes its an issue, but really... as long as you can follow a self imposed rule, and take advantage of it, it wont be a negative thing.

I will make trades involving cash - but usually the cash involved is a million or more. It's as simple as never trying to use $1 to swing a trade imho.

It would be good if OOTP used this as a rule, somehow tied to average player salaries in the setup tab rather than a hard figure like $1,000,000. Anything below say "Poor Player Salary" would just be interpreted as fluff.

Yeah, I wish the AI could be improved to understand that $1 (or even $100) doesn't affect the value of the trade offer.

We'll have to push it again for next year. I captured the $1 thing in a fresh bug this summer, but a little too late to affect change.

Well, theoretically, $100 in 1871 may be a reasonable amount. It certainly isn't today. That's why I mention it should be tied to the current league financials.
