More than one regular season playoff day

In my solo ficitional league, the second to last day, there were 3 teams tied for first and a fourth team one game out in my division. It was conceivable that there could be a four way tie for first (I don't have wild-card in the league).

I guess it would have taken 3 playoff days to determine the winner if there would have been a four way tie.

I guess theoretically, there could be a situation where all teams tie at season end.

Have others seen more than one playoff day before?

By the way, I ended up tied for first and won the playoff day, then lost to a superior team in the pennant series.

OOTP does not resolve three-way ties properly. It's been like that for awhile now, unfortunately.

Two days by MLB rules. The four tied clubs draw lots to be designated as A, B, C, and D. The tiebreaking playoff games are then:

Day 1: B at A, D at C
Day 2: C/D at A/B

The winner on day two wins the tiebreaker.

as stated above ootp doesn't resolve three-way ties properly; I've had seasons (both where my team has been involved and just computer teams) where it has taken over two weeks to break a 3 way-tie.

If you have ties in more than one division at the end of the year, OOTP will only play one game per day, so yeah, I've seen more than one regular season playoff day a few times.

I quite like how OOTP resolves 3 way ties, even though it can take a long ass time. It would be good if it did the real way by default though.

Yes on both counts.

As a matter of interest, would that happen in real life? Or would they have one day game and one night game? (I'm assuming they'd be at different times for TV reasons)

Most likely two night games if it fell during the week. On a weekend it might go either way depending on what the networks felt would optimize viewers.

TBS has rights to all one-game playoffs, and they always air one game nationally. I assume that they would air one day game and one night game, with the night game being the one featuring the westernmost team.

I'm not sure how, nor do I have it in front of me, but I swear a solo league I was simming had a team win the division at 86-84 in a 162-game season. Pretty sure there was at least a 3-way tie for first.

Yeah. 3-way tie at 81-81, each team finishes 1-1 in the first three tiebreakers, then a team wins both the fourth time around.
