I would agree with both of you.
But go further than the demo....
Try 8....
It's close enough to X not to matter....
And far enough away from 6.5 to be worth giving it a go.
If after trying it for some time come back here if you have any question/problems...
(and you will )
If the guys on these forums can't help you.....(etc)

( By the way....I liked 8 anyway! )

OOTP X is not a movie. It is a game in a series of games. Reviews by experts on the game series therefore have great value as to how much better or worse each successive version is.

I guess what I'm more looking for is if you had a public league with 20+ owners from 6.5... what would make you want to switch to 10? The league is more about franchise management so while facegen looks nice, it has little to almost nothing to do with how your franchise operates in a competitive league.

Facegen to me is a cooler feature if I am playing the game on my own against AI.
For me the switch was quite simple. OOTP 6.5 is very basic, smooth and very easy to play. OOTPX is the ultimate challenge if you use all the different features it has to offer. If you want a simplistic league stay with ootp 6.5 If you want a very good challenge the switch to OOTPX is a no-brainer. You won't really know until you try it out for yourself.

I'm curious though. I know there are a ton of smart OOTP people on here. So if you had to sell me on OOTP X versus 6.5 in terms of features, what features would you sell me on?
I used to be a "6.5 kinda guy". But then I bought X. It's WAAAY better. 6.5 comes off extremely poor compared to X. It's like comparing original nintendo to xbox. X is much much better. Im kicking myself that I didnt go to 8 or 9 and just pigheadedly stuck to 6.5 all these years.

Get X. You wont be disappointed.

:)

Not sure this is really a salespitch, but I suppose its somewhat related..

I had an old online league I used to help commish that ran on 6.5, but it eventually closed down. Anyways I found an old league file and I wanted to convert it to OOTPX, but in order to convert it, i had to reinstall 6.5 and sim the rest of the season that was in progress.

It had been a few years since I played OOTP 6.5 and after loading it up, I was amazed at just how far OOTP has progressed since those days. I used to love 6.5, but man it sure feels out dated. Sort of reminds me of when I break out my old 8 bit nintendo system for awhile and then go back to playing my Xbox 360. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but OOTP 6.5 really felt old and outdated to me when I tried using it again.

I previously used to be in a quandry as to whether or not I should upgrade to the next version. But every time I've upgraded, I've been happy and never looked back at the older versions. The only thing I miss is the neat skin that version 5 had. But that is miniscule compared to the neat things that the versions since do.
