Auto contracts?
Why do some players continue to be sighed by automatic renewal for years at the minimum salary no matter how good they are while others move on to free agency as they should signing big contracts? Is there a setting for this somewhere that I am missing?

Maybe somewhere you turned off arbitration? After three years (in the MLB at least) a player is eligible for arbiration but he isn't eligible for free agency until he's played for six years. I imagine is arbitration is set to off then regardless of his stats the guys not getting paid much at all.

The first three years of his career are automatic renewals at the league minimum no matter how good he is.
