My New Manager Is Driving Me Crazy!

The team I'm GM'ing in my solo fictional league won 106 games with a borderline manager (based on ratings) last year. His contract expired and I went out and hired a new manager with solid ratings. We're 13-14 under the new manager this year. One of the things he does that's killing me is that he always sits my franchise player against lefties. The guy won the triple crown last year and OPS'd over 1.000 against lefties.

Without going into commish mode to change his strategy and without setting my lineups myself, is there anything I can do to make this guy see reason? I'd like to imagine calling him into my office and telling him that he has to start Mr. Franchise every day. Is there a way to do this without playing God?

Tribe's advice is good. The other solution is to go to your player's personal strategy page and set him to "start" in his position. The AI will automatically have him in the starting lineup, in that position, in all situations.

I will give that a try, thanks!
I'm loathe to fire the manager- guys with good manager ratings are very hard to find in my universe.

As a Reds fan, I have to say, it's not just about the pitchers. Case in point: Willy Taveras or Corey Patterson (who was better than Willy Taveras...yeah Taveras was that bad)!
