corrupt data message

I recently backed up my data by saving the entire ootp folder to an external usb key because I loaded linux onto my hard drive and didnt want to chance anything. Something tells me I backed up my data incorrectly because when I go back into windows and try to load my game it says "the loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a saved game from an old version." I tried loading it from my backup file and get the same message. Any help here or did I screw myself?
