Aging and development modifiers?
I did a search and don't see much that looks definitive. I have been a bit out of touch this year. Is there a consensus on aging and development modifiers yet, or do things work well at 1.000 across the board? (Running a 100-year sim right now with the intention to start getting into OOTPX soon.)

I'm using .4 for aging.

If you use feeders and set injuries to normal, then you have to set things way down. I use .400 aging and .750 dev. I also lower the offensive league totals modifiers a lot to get reasonable results.

Definitely no intention to use feeders here.

I don't use feeders so I have development set at 1.0 and aging at .4 and that's working out fine so far.

Jets, what kind of aging patterns are you getting with .650?

To be clear, I'm not RonCo when it comes to these. My "specialty" is getting stats to come out the way I like them. The work I've done in the past on aging and development is much more high-level: the goal simply being to get the average age in the majors in the 28.5-29.0 range that it was the last time I checked. In the absence of anything definitive, that's what I'm shooting for again (along with the stats...)

I've heard people are content with aging and dev at 1.0 with no feeders and injuries set to high.
Normal injuries force you to lower aging and dev a little. Feeders require you to lower them a lot. With 1.0 pcm's, you're going to want to lower offense a lot (no surprise there). I use: 2b: .822 3b: .920 HR: .928 BB: .940 HBP: .699 WP: .900 |

I'll preface this by saying that I'm no expert. I haven't done any extensive studies or plotted any graphs to prove my settings... I'm enjoying my settings because I seem to be getting a good mix of results. Players are peaking at the right ages, but some are also getting to the big show at 21-23 and doing fairly well. At the same time, there are some guys who just aren't ready until they're a bit older. But I'm getting peaks at ages 26-31. The actual aging process though, which is what you specifically asked about, is what is really making me love these settings. Again, I'm getting a fantastic mix, especially for hitters. Here are two screenshots to show what I'm seeing. ![]() This is my career hits leader, after playing from 1912-1962. Injuries are off, FYI. I have a good mix of guys who just keep on playing. But check out his VORP...peaks exactly at age 27. Now, look at this guy... ![]() Oh, Tom Van de Bosch. First two years were with the same team..they moved. He was then traded in a blockbuster deal. In the 1940's, he won EIGHT triple crowns. This guy was the best hitter on the planet. I was coaching Detroit, and I watched him fall. At the age of 31, he became a shell of himself. Again, no injuries. By 34, he was riding the pine. I like to think he stuck around to enjoy the end of his 10-year deal. Anyway, the main thing I'm seeing is guys getting to 35-37 and their skills starting to fall down gracefully. |

Thanks a lot, Jets, that was just what I wanted to know.
Nice league, btw.
