Free agency salary requests (low and high)

Tried searching, nothing came up at all. Strange...

Well, two scenarios I've run into today:

1) In my online league, we just hit free agency after the 2009 season and players are asking for a BOATLOAD of money. Guys like Orlando Cabrera asking for $25M+ per year. Sounds like these crazy demands will come down, which is good but I was curious to hear some feedback.

2) My solo-league, it's the exact opposite. I have guys like Vlad Guerrero only requesting $2.5M/year and even middle of the road guys like Ryan Freel, he starts his "demands" at $600,000.

How can I adjust these? I have salary info set at MLB quickstart default; so $16M for star players on down to $400,000 for league minimum.

What do I need to adjust here?

Well, 74 views so far, and no replies so let me try another question instead:

What determines a player's salary demands? I'd like to tinker with this. I've read some saying that it is the AI evaluation settings only to find other posts that say this is not the case.

Anyone care to lend a hand here?

I'm willing to bet that your clubs have a boatload of money in the front office screen. That will increase demands.

The big factors will be each team's budget room, cash on hand, player greed, and the AI evaluations will determine how highly they rate a given player but I don't think it's as big of a factor as the others. If you're using the MLB quickstart, you'll find after a few years that the budgets are higher than the salary distribution and salary levels would lead to in a standard game. In a fictional game you generally won't get a team with much over $135M in their budget, whereas the MLB quickstart has teams like the Yankees with an added $60-70M available. This will throw off salary demands (much like it does in RL).

Conversely, in the first offseason of the quickstart you'll sometimes find that no team has any money and this will depress free agent demands (think this offseason) and that seems to be the cause of the other situation.

Hey, just wanted to bump this topic rather than start a new one.

Question: Does the game engine figure salary cap into player's demands? I am in an online league and arbitration numbers went up huge compared to 6.5. And I believe 6.5 was very good at recognizing the salary depressing effects of a cap. Thanks guys.
