Questions about Starting a Custom League

Hi all, Rookie player here. A quick question about when starting a new game.

I select Advanced mode and try to start a new game because I want to add in the foreign leagues like Japan, Cuba etc. but I also want to use the real-world MLB league with pictures, histories etc.

However, I find that I can only add "Major American League" and that it's basically a phony league.

Is there a way to have my cake and eat it?

If you want the 2009 MLB rosters- go to load quick start league and select current mlb, after setup you can go to game setup-league setup- add additional leagues-standard leagues- (japanese,cuban etc..). Hope this answers your question.

Fantastic, that's solved my problem! Thanks very much.

Now any clues as to how to win with Oakland would be great. In my third season I lost over 100 games! Ouch!

Before you go any further, I'd encourage you to read the manual found here. It's a huge help, even for experienced players.
