Stats over scouts ratings
Question I have is I am using High School and College Feeders with scouting on and 1-80 ratings.....1st yr player list came out and I see players that have very good numbers ex. .400 avg every year but potential rating is 20 and avg looking players as far as stats go but 80 potential. Do I trust my scouts reporting or go with the stats produced by the player?
thank you. |

By and large, I would still trust the scouts.
Stats in feeder leagues are a good tool if you're evaluating two similar players or even late in the draft when you're trying to look for that diamond in the rough. I probably put the breakdown 80/20 between scouts and feeder stats taken into consideration. |

Thank you for the advise and insight. I am paying my Scouting Director for a reason and should go with his reports. Just hard to see why a guy who tears it up at the college or high school level would be so low in potential. BTW the player in question was taken in the 3rd round 6th pick. (I Had first pick overall). I will have to follow his progress and fire my scouting director should this guy have an impact.

Well, the stats they produce in HS/college are based on the current ratings they have in relation to the rest of the feeder league. If guy has a 3 (out of 10) contact, he'll hit .400 in college and he is advanced for his age. But if his potential is only 4 or 5, then he'll never make it above single A.
