The widget screen alone makes it worth upgrading. Never mind all of the under the hood changes along with further enhancement of free agent\roster rules.

Arbitration is no longer a set figure take it or leave it. You now have to submit an offer and if you try to low ball it be prepared for the arbiter to go with the players much larger request. Super 2 arbitration also now in the game. Also, as IRL, if you don't offer arbitration to a player and he goes somewhere else you'll not be receiving any draft pick compensation. You now have to weigh the risk of making an offer hoping he doesn't sign and you get a compensation pick instead of nothing, against he takes the arbitration and your stuck with someone you didn't want at a price you didn't want to pay.

Pitchers roles make more sense as the number and quality of pitches a guy throws is a determining factor in whether or not he is suitable as a starter, in other words it's not just based on stamina.

Minor leagues now produce more realistic stats without having to run test seasons and tweak modifiers. With the click of an option box the minor league can be "told" to produce stats in line with your entered league totals.

So many more things have been refined and improved. Look\search around the boards, if you haven't already, and you'll find a lot of information on things like historical play (not something I do) if that's your area of interest.

OOTP is easily the best bang for the buck game I buy every year and version X is the best yet IMHO.

Yes it's better. Try the demo and see what you think. If you've played 8, you won't have any trouble getting into 10.

Trust me, 10 is much better than 8. Buy it now.

It's really not even a comparison.OOTP X is leaps and bounds better than OOTP 8,and OOTP 9 for that matter.

I was a bit skeptical of the new pitching model, but am really glad they made the change, and executed it well. I think it is great.

I can't even remember what OOTP 8 was like at the moment, they all seem to blur into obscurity as the latest and greatest takes front and center. But I think going from 9 to 10 was the easiest version transition I've made yet.

I jumped right on board OOTP 9 when it came out and have personally found it to be the best version of the game to that point. After participating on the OOTP 10 beta team, I actually waited until my solo league turned over this past month to migrate it to OOTP 10 and after a little tweaking of some relievers based on the new pitching model, I am 100% in OOTP 10 now. The widgets are a great addition, and even though I was very skeptical of the new pitching model and it's inital quirks during beta testing, I am sold on it as a powerful addition to the game. Minor League DLs are also a welcome addition for me.

Now if only I can campaign hard enough to get Markus to add Rehab Assignments and animated game play to OOTP 11, it may have the perfect baseball game (in my humble opinion anyway).

Definitely.

If simply for the widgets alone.

I like OOTP 8 better, because my computer can't handle OOTP10.
