concussion...end of career?

ok, I am probably late to the party on this one and I wouldn't say I am complaining but my solo league lost Jose Reyes and Tori Hunter to career ending concussions.
I can't remember any injury IRL (say 15yrs) that caused a career to end. The only one that comes to mind was Atle Hammaker coming back from an injury and throwing a pitch and breaking his arm again, I think.
I think career ending injuries happen way to much. Medical and surgical technologies these days can do about anything to get a player back on the field.
I am kinda thinking if an injury is that serious he should be out for a length of time and return and if could not perform to the level once achieved the player retires due to diminished performance( The player upon returning takes severe rateing hits and needs to build those rateings back up or choose to retire ).
Thanks for any advise or input.

You can always edit the injury file to fit your liking, even if that means removing all CEIs. The injury file is located: ...Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10\database\injury.txt The easiest way to edit it (IMO) is to save the text file as a CSV and open that in Excel. Then, if you want to get rid of all CEIs change the "Career Ending Possible Bool" to "0".

As for the title, concussions are serious business and are potentially career-devastating, even ending. See: Matheny, Mike.

Comma-separated values - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is basically just a fancy text file. It stores tables of data.

A CSV file can be opened and manipulated by Excel or other spreadsheet software.

Or your favorite text editor, if you're a bit of a masochist.

Infractions: 0/1 (1)
A serious concussion could cause a career to end. Concussions cause brain injury. It depends on which part of the brain is injured.

Didn't Corey Koskie's career end because of post-concussion syndrome? It happens to some people.

For most injuries to be career-enders, they would have to be far worse than the normal injury of that type, because at this point most injuries can be fixed and the player return to playing even if his days as an effective player are done. But sometimes injuries happen that are just far worse than other injuries and that's why there is a category for career-enders. Concussions certainly could fall under this description in my mind.

Hell, a broken finger could be a career ender for a pitcher.

Dave Dravecky, and he broke his arm ... twice after coming back from cancer surgery. Ouch.

Draveky....that's who i was thinking of, anyway I guess I should clarify a little I am in no way saying a player should have a career end because of a concussion. I guess I should have said it should be because of a set back event not injured in the game and right after have a end of career announcement.
Anyway I am sure it's my lack of knowledge of who has had there career IRL end because of concussion. I think of Ryan Church sustaining 2 in a month and besides some performance loss came back ok.
Thanks all for the advise on the settings

Ah, so sort of make it seem like he's struggling with it for a while, then later an End of Career announcement. Makes sense.
