OOTP 10 Eaiser then OOTP 9???
Hi, in my 4th day of the switch from 9 to 10.
I foind 10 even eaiser than 9. The rule 5 draft is awful, way, way too many great player available, number one starters, cleanup hitters, this can't be that hard to code for. Example: Oakland left a 23yr old starter off its 40 man roster. He was 17-2 at AAA and had an era of 1.74, 4 solid pitchers and great stamina. Instead, they protected 5 34+ yearolds at AA and AAA who were washed up, and either poor middle relivers or backups in the minors/ There are many example of this. I know you can just not take them, but it would be better if teams protected them. |

With respect check your league set up and or finances. I never see anything but dregs and retreads in the Rule 5.

Thanks
Yeah, thanks for the feedback, it is so tempting to go for a quick fix, but I am now not taking a single player in the rule five draft.
RichW, I am palying with standard settings, trades hars, finances normal. Most of these players are on minor league contracts so I am unsure how finances will affect it? Just had another R5 draft and it had a lot of stars in it, I am adding them to my player tracker, and a lot of them are performing well. If anyone knows of a setting to fix this, please tell me. Thanks, |

I don't have a lot of experience with the rule V draft so I'm not offering help but I am curious...
Is this a league that has been converted from OOTP 9 or one started in X? If converted I wonder if that could be part of it. I'm sure other players who have converted could offer some insight there. |

Wasn't sure when I made my post so went to check my league before posting, but I have never drafted any player in the rule 5 draft. Not because of house rule but because there was never anything there worth my while. I do like using rule 5 though because on occasion I will see a player that was drafted away from my team make it in the majors. Never given up a star but one or two guys that were useful utility types and one SP that I didn't protect because of injury that I didn't think he could come back from. I was wrong and he has performed a decent job as Baltimore's #5, which means on my Cubs he probably would have been long relief. Last edited by Sweed; 12-07-2009 at 08:04 PM. |

I've never seen this. It looks like a localized/roster/settings issue to me.

Thanks for the feedback
Hi,
Thanks, still need help. Fresh install, added padresfan mod. so no upgrade. Most of these great players are stars at AAA who never got a chance. I had to turn off R5 because teams were dradting 10 of them, it was knid of silly. I checked in editor and these are legit stars 0n 1-20 scale witrh contach and power over 13-14 for a few of them. Don't understand why the AI dosen't play them? |

Do a fresh install. Add NO mods. Import nothing. Create a league.
See if you still have the problem (hint: you won't).

Tried the fresh Install
Thanks for the help,
I tried the fresh install, no mods. Same problem, in R5 after season two there were 15 players avail from the top 100 prospects list and two in the top 10. Example Neftail Feliz SP Oak, superstar, top 5 SP in hte game, unprotected. I tried two fresh installs, 2 different teams, and even letting the AI manag al teams while I did nothing and there he was, in R5. I don't get it? |

I don't get it either, to be honest. My experience with Rule 5 is completely in line with what others have reported here: only second-rate minor-leaguers are in the pool, or the occasional prospect who wasn't protected for one reason or another -- sometimes by me, of course . . . .

I've noticed (anecdotally) that the AI seems to have a positional allotment for the 40 man roster. So instead of protecting that stud SP in AAA, they'll protect the 30 year old half star C in A ball to have 3 Cs on the 40 man. Or such is my recollection.
