Historical Ethnicity Data?

I was wondering if anyone had, or could point me to, data on the ethnic makeup of MLB from the 1880s to the present? In other words, how many foreign players & from what countries, as well as how many US-born players of different ethnic groups (i.e. Irish, German, etc.)? I'm interested in creating a fictional historical league in which the fictional player names roughly mirror the historical ethnic backgrounds of MLB players through the ages. Thanks!
