Should I Buy?

I have OOTP 9 and am wondering should I buy OOTP 10 now that its on the holiday sale? I am a poor college student with little money but much more time now that I finished my Senior Thesis. So should I buy this or should I wait for OOTP 11?

Last year OOTP 10 didn't come out till halfway through the baseball season, If OOTP 11 doesn't come out till June/July this year I probably wouldn't mind getting 10 but if it comes out in March I might wanna just wait...

Basically how much better is it than OOTP 9?

Will I notice large scale improvements or is it mostly superficial stuff?

P.S. OOTP 9 was the first OOTP game I purchased. I found my way into these style games through the Free Baseball Mogul older versions like 2000,2001,2002, eventually I purchased Baseball Mogul 2007 and 2008 and then OOTP 9 and have never looked back to BM since.

Well I had 9 and just purchased 10. I'm also on a limited budget being a senior on social security. Tried the demo and felt it was worth it.

Rich has a legit point. If income is a significant concern for you then hold off. If you can afford/justify it as he said then buy. It's that simple.

I would buy OOTP10 now because i use a new version of the game not until the last patch is out.

Even when OOTP 11 will be released around opening day the new version will not be "finished" before autnum so you have plenty of time.

Best recommendation - download the Demo of OOTPX and try it out. Then you can make an informed decision on whether it's for you or not.

I say since money is tough for you right now wait. Markus has actually stated that they are shooting for an opening day(close to it) release. Unlike most years, that actually seems to be the plan this year. I say save your money up for the next version which could be out as soon as April.

If you're that poor, sell some of your blood at a plasma center and take the money and buy the game and a nice dinner. You get the game and you might help save someone's life.

Before anyone freaks out, I periodically donate blood at a local hospital for free. People out there need it.

The game may be out in April, but I'd bet the patching of it won't be done till fall!!! OOTPX is pretty good. If the original poster likes the demo and has the bucks, I'd suggest buying X now. By the way, with the talk of OOTP on-line or whatever it's called, do we know for sure that OOTPXI is still scheduled for a normal release; i.e. sometime during the season?

Markus states they are shooting for an opening day release just about every year. Then when Jan rolls around it's, "oh maybe late April". Then Feb arrives and the release date looks like May, etc etc. I'll be surprised to see OOTP11 before Mid May.

Wow, where did you donate plasma? When I donated plasma in the early 90's I only got around $15.

And you know what? It doesn't bother me unless it goes into June (or any further than it did this year). They want and need to get it right for the customer satisfaction.

A bug-free (99.9% that is) game is a happy game.

Id say wait if money is an issue. Then again who knows how good the next version will be. What if its not much improvement over X. You might just wanna keep playing X. But it could be a whole lot better.

It's $75 for two donations now where I live. I know this because one of my friends donates.

Actually I believe that he has stated that it would be great if the game was released by opening day. But he never says it will be. The customers complain that is not out by opening day when in reality if there is a yearly release of the game then they will be released at about the same time every year. Since ootpx has, IMO, been one of the best versions with not as many bugs, there is a better floor to start on going into ootp11. Plus Markus has already stated that there is actually a plan to have the game released around opening day.

Wow! I should have bottled it back in 1990 and sold it at today's prices.

You can get $45-$50 for your first donation here, which would buy someone X at the current price and dinner.
