The Greatest OOTP Player Ever

Let's have a little competition.

The rules are pretty simple.

You are allowed to edit the player's POTENTIAL ratings at the start, but not current ratings. You can't edit ratings afterwards.

Try to beat this one.

Villalobos was a very durable player for all those seasons at short stop.

I've posted this guy before. He was unedited and so much better than his peers that he is kind of like the outliers we see IRL from time to time.

He retired after winning the WS. The league is in 2080 now.

Dear lord, he is by far the most dominate pitcher i have ever seen, real or fake.

Still, can anyone beat Blanc in career length? 30 years... possibly more in the minors if he was created at a really young age. I suspect unretirement here.

I'm sure with a little creative adjusting of the aging modifiers and league settings, someone could create just about any type of monster player they wanted to.

Did the game generate these players?

I hope not. I would be very disappointed if this happened in one of my leagues.

The numbers are totally beyond belief.

I have to respectfully disagree. I set up the league to be pitching dominant and I got it. Matsura pitched in a low ERA era. You can see that the AL ERA rose considerably during and after his career. Now it is much more like real life by design, my design. I like creating different eras like a a high HR era high BA era, high steals etc. It keeps the league interesting

I was unaware that one had to conform to a standard other than what the league creator (me) wants.

Matsura was game created and unmodified. One other pitcher had 448W in the same era. After that it is much like today except that pitchers never get injured so they have inflated W%.

PS the league started in 2006

my guy batted .430 to your .424 and won 12 GGs at shortstop. I'd say my guy is better, but that's just me.

You are right. You can play it your way in OOTPB. That's one the game's greatest attributes.

I'm a traditionalist and I just want each era in OOTPB to be like the same era in MLB.

I sometimes forget everybody doesn't play this game the same way as I do.

I'd still have to go with Blanc, who spent a LOT of time at catcher according to numbuh.

True you can play it anyway you want but to pick the greatest ootp player ever shouldnt there be some guidelines. Its hard to compare a fictional player that hits 1100 hr to a historical player who hits 780 hr. Maybe someone should start the ootp Hall of Fame for players. You nominate a player. Tell a little bit about the player and your league and let the board vote.
