How is this an unearned run?
In an online league, my closer has been lights out so far this season. 17 innings, 3-0 record, 9 for 9 in saves with no earned runs allowed. Out of curiosity I decided to look back at the game log to see what bum made the error that almost gave him a loss. Here is the inning in which his lone "unearned run" occurred......
Link to game log Code:
Top of the 11th - Fushigi Yugi Celestial Warriors batting - Pitching for Kuwana Steel Dragons : RHP S. Shimizu Batting: LHB N. Kobayashi 0-0: Ground out 6-3 (Groundball, 6) Batting: RHB S. Okamoto 0-0: Foul Ball, location: 2F 0-1: Ball 1-1: Ball 2-1: Foul Ball, location: 2F 2-2: Fly out, F9 (Flyball, 9M) Batting: RHB S. Takahashi 0-0: Called Strike 0-1: DOUBLE (Line Drive, 5L) Pinch Hitting: LHB M. Yoshida 0-0: SINGLE (Flyball, 7S) - OUT at second base trying to stretch hit. S. Takahashi scores Top of the 11th over - 1 run(s), 2 hit(s), 0 error(s), 0 left on base; Fushigi Yugi 3 - Kuwana 3 While we are on the topic of bugs in this game log, can anyone explain how the visiting team scored a run in the top of the 11th, yet the score after the half inning is 3-3? To be honest, ever since we converted to X there have been all kinds of strange things happening. Our triple A league only shows the schedule for two weeks in advance, players get injured and then play the next day like nothing happened, game replays have shown an entirely different outcome then the box scores, and college players are sometimes spending 5 years in school(without red shirting). Oh well, that's the end of my rant. Most of this is just frustration. The doomsday clock is starting to tick on my league faster then the rebuilding process is going. I fear I may never get to sip the Sake from the Neo Tokyo Cup.

There is a known bug with unearned runs relating to outs on the basepaths. Hopefully it will be fixed in v11. Also, the 3-3 score is just a misprint in the game log. If you were to watch the replay, the score should be 4-3 after that half inning. I've never seen any bugs where the score is actually kept incorrectly, though I have seen errors in the game log like that.
Sorry this leads to frustration on your part. A lot of us have things that get under our skin about the game, but don't let it interfere with your enjoyment of OOTP as a whole. It's still a lot of fun and a great value overall.

I reported this same bug not long ago, and was shocked to learn that it's an old well-known bug that has just never been fixed. I find that horrifying and disgraceful; if you find a bug, you are supposed to fix it on sight.

In theory that would be nice, but due to schedule constraints it isn't always practical. That being said, it does seem like a LOT more effort should go into cleaning up the game instead of adding more options. I always hated when my manager said we didn't have time to fix something, but sometimes there are other priorities..
