Speed of your machine

For those of you who have no problems running OOTPX, how much RAM do you have?

It takes a LONG time for me to use OOTPX....click something, there's at least a 5 second delay(sometimes so much that the applications within the game are useless)

I have 1 GB of ram. It works fine, I just make sure I don't have other programs running. The more ram the better. I tend to delete old messages, news, boxscores and it keeps things running smoother.

On a Mac, 1 GB is fine, but it's definitely faster with 2 GB.

My laptop isn't powerful but it can handle the game as fast as it needs to be to feel comfortable. I have found that I can't be too ambitious with my leagues though, there is a limit to how much it can really handle. My league right now is a 16-team league with 4 affiliates, with 3 individual feeders and one separate 8 team international with one set of minors. It handles this well, but I'd have to be careful about expanding too much because then it becomes just too much for my computer to process.

Are there any programs out there that will help speed your computer during a game? I used to have a program that you would enter like "game mode" and it would increase the speed noticeably.

i only have 256 mb of memory right now. It takes a while to load the game but as far as simming games i really havent noticed much difference. Though that could change when i get to 50+ years of sim histoty. Though by then i hope to have a new machine. I dont really mind if it sims the games slower. Id like to be able to observe more of the news headlines, leader changes, standings changes without having to stop the game or sim day to day.

I have been using a demo of system mechanic 9 by iolo. It help speed up your machine and turns off unnecessary programs that run in the backround and frees up clutter. It has a month demo but I am going to buy it when I can.

3 GB Ram; 2.2 Ghz Dual Core Processor...runs fine.

I would like to say that I miss making "Boot Disks" for games so that you could squeeze out that last 2 Mhz or 256 Kb of RAM from your Tandy.

1GB of RAM, 1.73GHz Core Duo, Vista = not very good, but no problem at all running basic leagues

I'm not a big fan of programs that are supposed to do that, but there's a lot of stuff you can do without the "help" of other programs. Here's a pretty good old thread on the topic.

Just bought a new computer... much more than I really need.

Intel Quad Core Processor
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 (64-bit)

This is much faster than my old Dell 3000 (5 years old), which was 1.25 GB RAM and an Intel Pentium 4 Processor.

The Dell took 75 minutes to generate a new year and Almanac for a seven-year old league.

The new HP does it in 20 minutes.

I was advised by Markus to get 4 GB of RAM. Quite a few other Beta Team members suggested that as well.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8600 with 2 GB of RAM and it auto sims no problem, however if I try and use any of the HTML reports to a player page and back.... forget about it, it takes like 5 seconds to return to the HTML page.
I always use the the manager email tab now to go back an forth between news and the player.

I went from 516 MB of RAM on my old machine to 4 GB on my new one.

Downloading an online league file went from about 5 minutes to 1.5 minutes, just by getting a new machine.

Running a registry cleaner is not a good idea.

I haven't used the registry cleaner with this, I use it to free up clutter, optimize my internet options and turned off some unneeded backround prgrams.

8 gigs, with another 8 on a USB drive for cache. Runs like a striped-ass baboon.

Is that a good thing? I've never seen a striped-ass baboon run.

I am not very computer-literate.

I use C Clearer, a free software. One section deals with registry issues. I scan for them and fix them when they show up.
Am I wrong to use this?

Also ATF-Cleaner.
Are these good to use to keep your computer from getting too cluttered?
Several computer repairmen have suggested that I use these.

Do you guys agree?

I use AVG as my virus protection.
Also Super Anti-Spyware, Spybot and Ad-Aware.

Comments would be appreciated.
