Importing OOTP 8

Is there a way to reset the OOTP9 demo so I can import my OOTP8 into OOTP9 and then into OOTP10.

Thanks.

Once your Demo time expires you're out of luck. Only suggestion I can make is find a way to upload your OOTP8 file somewhere, have someone download it and convert it to OOTP9 for you, then re-upload for you to download again and convert to OOTPX.

Just upload it and give us a link and I'm sure someone will do it for you. If someone doesn't within a couple days of you posting it I'll re-install 9 and do it myself. It'd just be less effort for someone who already has it installed though.

No. That's way too big.

If you have an ftp site, use that. If not, go to somewhere like mediafire.com or megaupload.com, create an account, upload it and post the link.

Also, I'd bet you don't need all the files to convert, only the dats (if someone can confirm or deny this, please post). That should get your file size down by quite a bit.

Thanks for the help. I may try this, but this has to be a way to be able to reuse the OOTP9 Demo.

Any rational to the limited usage.

Well, if you have access to another computer you could put the demo on it, transfer your files, convert them and then transfer them back to your old computer.

I'm sure the licensors probably try to make sure you can't easily reset the demo and if a way was posted that you could I think I'd feel obligated as a mod to at least hide it and bring it to the other mods to discuss it.

But try the other computer way. I don't see a problem with that and if you try it with just the dats it shouldn't be that much of a bother for you either.

Why didn't you buy a copy of 9? It was better than 8.

Don't know why I did not buy OOTP9.

I have access to another computer, but when I install OOTP9 and run it, I do not have acess to the trial. The only options I have is purchase and liscence.

Did I DL the wrong file.

No, you don't need all that stuff. No need to convert all the news files, html files, etc.

Why should you be allowed to reset the Demo?

People download the Demo to try the game, if they like it they buy it. They don't get to keep playing for free by resetting the Demo.
