Deleting a player's history?

I have kind of an odd question. I edited a player in my fictional league to have the best possible offensive ratings just to see what would happen without considering my auto-save. He ended up batting .456 with an OPS of 1.422 for the season, the numbers that he put up absolutely dwarf every other player's and pretty much ruined my single season all time hitting leaderboards. I know that I can delete him using Commissioner Mode, but is there any way to expunge his stats from the record or even redo the whole season without him?

From game setup, export stats.
Open batting.txt file that was exported and take out his yearly line.
Save.
From game setup, import stats.

I just tried this and for whatever reason he isn't listed in there. I figure it had something to do with the fact that I used Commissioner Mode to delete him, hoping that his stats would go with him. When he didn't show up on the exported batting stats list, I used Commissioner Mode again to place him back on my team and tried exporting the stats again to no avail. I'm officially stumped.

I believe his career batting stats are in players_career_batting_stats.csv. I don't know if that will be enough as the stats are in other files too. I think his stats for each game are in players_game_batting.csv and there is one for each AB in players_at_bat_batting_stats.csv.

If you edit these and import them I suggest you back up your league in case things go terribly wrong.

Failing that, is there any way to save the structure of my league to start a new game in 2009? I wouldn't mind just starting over everything, but since I put a lot of work into making a fairly detailed European league I'd like to at least keep intact.

I think you would need to save your league as a template. Then create a new league from your template. Then check to see if they have any stats or if is starts at the beginning of the season. I would try doing this before doing any editing or importing. This is what the manual says about templates:

Templates are a neat feature that can save you time if you like to create multiple worlds. A template is like a oopy of the game structure you have created, that can later be used to create a new game with an identical structure. Templates created during the game creation process contain only the structure of your game. Templates created after a game has started include all of the players in that game as well.

It's worth a try.

I just got around to saving my league as a template and got some weird results. The league's structure and team names obviously stayed the same, but I lost all my logos and for some reason the regular season began and ended on the same day.

Oh well. I was getting a little tired of my league anyway, I think I'll start over with a new Pan-Asian league. Thanks for the help everyone.

Just make sure to save all your new stuff as a Quickstart when you get everything the way you want it. I recommend saving a bunch as you go so you can go back without redoing everything.
