question on greed and asking price demand

Is there a way to set what a player will demand in their free agency? I ask as i want to set up a cuban defect, entering free agency. Even though the potential numbers are very high, the player only asks for 300,000 one year(age 22). Even his current ratings are very good, he would usually get 2-4m a year at least. I want a bidding war, will other managers fight in crazy numbers to get this guy? Is it strictly the age that is hurting him? If someone is major league ready at 22, then he should consider himself ready, and demand the $$$.

so no ideas on this?
I am trying to mimic an MLB example like Chapman going on right now. Jays have offered 23m on a 22 year old from Cuba. Will changing the greed marker make them demand any different up front? i have seen no difference with changing it.
