Pitch by pitch house rules
I've read some threads on this. So here are my house rules:
Pitching: Play in one-pitch mode select pitch or pitch around ( pitch around results in more walks, but worse results? ) Batting: Play in in one-pitch mode when nobody on Play in pitch by pitch with runners on with the rule that one cannot select "take pitch" except on 3-0 and 3-1 counts Does this seem reasonable or is there a better way to do it? |

Yes, that seems reasonable. It "take pitch" is the problem, limiting yourself to only using it in "realistic" situations would make sense. I often use pitch by pitch to play out the whole game. On defense I like the flexibility of moving my corner infielders back when the batter has two strikes on him. I think, in general, if you coach within parameters that one could call realistic that you'll be fine.

Why do you have the take pitch rule? Is there a problem in the game engine? I use take pitch all the time on 0-0 counts to try to run up the pitch count on the opposing pitcher.

RonCo played some games where a batter would take until 2 strikes and the stats were a bit out of wack. Since no MLB team in history(that I know of) has ever used this strategy its hard to compare it to anything. |

I sort of agree.
I use it sometimes to get a better count to steal on but other than that I dont use it. Perhaps get rid of the take sign and let the computer decide the count to steal on when choosing the steal strategy or even hit and runs and run and hits. I believe that is what Puresim does. |
