OOTPX MLB 2009 Group Think

2009
Real Rosters
Full minors
Full international leagues (all added)
NO feeder leagues
Toronto Blue Jays(?)

I've been torn between going back to an online league or playing solo. For competitive reasons, there's nothing better than an online league. However, sometimes life makes it hard to keep up with.

On the other hand, solo can be a lot of fun but the challenge and immersion sometimes becomes less interesting than when pit up against other humans.

That's when I started thinking that it might be fun to do a group think together. This group think would build a team together but also keep each other in check to make sure things are fair and that the AI is never compromised.

I started a solo league with the Blue Jays, as they were one of the two teams without a GM at the start of a new 2009 game. I wanted to play AL ball and thought it would be challenging to go against the Red Sox and Yankees. Plus the Jays are more competitive than the Nats and I find it a bit boring to ALWAYS take a total crap team.

In this league, I am playing with all international leagues running, and have so far gone through all of the hitters in our organization as well as the free agents and those on the waiver wire. I made a small short list of hitters I was planning on taking a 2nd look at to possibly add to our organization.

These players are:
2B Ray Durham (am thinking of trading Aaron Hill to free up $ and because I have some minor leaguers I like at 2B after this year)
OF Geoff Jenkins (LF is a spot I'd like to upgrade both offensively and defensively...Jenkins isn't perfect, but would be a nice bump for a good price)
DH Jose Vidro (would move Lind to LF)
OF Willy Mo Pena (would take a chance on him with a MLC)
1B Craig Brazell (MLC)

My goals are to be competitive this year while also freeing up some money as we're scheduled to be about $3M over budget next year (before the true arbitration #'s come in). I don't want to sell the farm, but there are ways to trim.

Before I got too much further, I thought I'd ask to see if any of you would want to come on board. Maybe one day we could expand and have another team of people join us for a unique twist to an online game.

Worse case, maybe I'll just use this thread as a dynasty report or something.

It depends on which direction looks best to take the franchise. Do you try to continue being competitive with Halladay as the leader or do you trade him and rebuild?
