Player Nicknames
What's the best player nickname that YOU ever gave to one of your players. Computer generated ones do not count.
Mine is E-Twaun "Little Downtown" Berdmeyer The nickname comes from the fact that he is only 5'5 and hit 28 homers in a 54 game season. |

I hope the rest of his name was computer-generated, though. Otherwise... what were you thinking? Do you know how much ridicule the poor guy's had to endure over the years because of that name?

Bobby "Grand Slam" Jones.....
....after the golfer. Although I should have thought twice about giving a nickname of "Grand Slam" to a pitcher.

I have never given a nickname to any of my players, but now that you mention it, I think I will have to give this some serious thought. Oh well, another work day shot...

I love good nicknames.
Rupert "King" Salomon SP- Has won 4 Pagano (Cy Young) Award, back to back last 2 seasons and on pace for another this season. 203 wins and 128 losses in 444 starts. 2.79 ERA and 3404 Ks in 3040 innings. Richard "The Mechanic" Honea SP Columbus "H.G.H." Bumpus SP Pitched 17 seasons and retired at age 42. Richard "Hanging Gardens" Fuller LF/RF Our MVP is named the "Babylon" Award. Although he turned into "Glass Joe/Soda Popinski/J.D. Fuller and a few other choice nichmanes because he is as fragile as Fine China. Never won the MVP. @*$^ole. Raymond "The Vet" Mungo- 3B Think Fight Club. "Tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of Raymond K. Hessel's life. His breakfast will taste better than any meal you and I have ever tasted." Actually my field is another one. "Bach Field"- I took over the Ft. Wayne Wizards and was going to move them when I remembered a book I used to love that started in Ft. Wayne. So I named my stadium after the author. Illusions is the book. |

Taku "Save the Cheerleader" Hiro SP- I was told I had 19 or 20 character to use in team nicknames. WRONG. This one ended up...
Taku "The Cheerleader" Hiro Utterly disappointing, I traded him before fixing it. |

Gale 'Glue' King (SP),this is for a fictional, negro player (circa 1913) for rubbing foreign materials on the ball.

It wasn't in this game but back in the PTP days with cards and dice, I nicknamed Mike Sharperson "The Perfect Weapon" around the time that lame movie came out, and Sharpie was an awesome defender at 6 positions, so we could use him everywhere. It stuck.

Looking through some old leagues last night, I came across one particularly good one that I created a nickname for:
Richard "Poppin" Cherry. Think of the nickname Richard's use to get the full effect.
