reduce save file size
Is there a setting to have the game stop storing messages?(or limit the size)
In my message folder there are over 6,100 1kb files. But in the message/mail system in the game, i tend to delete them, or just keep 20-40 on hand during the year. I am trying to reduce the "59,000 files" of my save directory. Thanks. Last edited by rudoggy; 01-13-2010 at 10:09 AM. Reason: forgot |

Sure, scroll down to the bottom of OOTP Baseball Manual - Game Options Page to the Auto-Save & Logs Options section. In the game it's the "Game Options" screen.

Thanks for reply.
I had already set the news/injuries logs to "None" some time ago. Do i manually go in and delete the files from the message folder? I was worried i would corrupt the game. |

Ping Ctorg
Ctorg did two batch files that delete messages and box scores/logs. I use these on Jan 1 of each fictional year to reduce the entire game file to about 350MB. On Dec 31 of each fictional year I back up and zip the big file for posterity and store it on an external drive.
I wonder if someone could write a batch file for deleting replays? Right now I do it manually. Perhaps you can search for Ctorgs bat files or he can post them again.

Yeah, go ahead. I'm 99% sure deleting those files is completely safe. If you want to be extra careful just backup your entire .lg folder into a zip file or something, delete what you want to delete and then try running the game for awhile. If nothing bad happens then do what you want with the backup.
