Right.
We do not know what changes get done to the database from year to year, so we cannot provide updates in an easy way. OOTP 11 will work properly with the 5.7 version of the Lahman DB.

I have two follow up questions: 1 - Does this mean that when you create a fictional historical league, technically the league has an "artificial shelf life" that expires once you reached whatever is the last year that is in the database you used? So for example if you used the 2008 version of the database, and you decide to begin simming starting with the 1995 season, you could play 13 seasons before it runs out of data. And if that's correct, then what does the game do? 2 - If the stats only come in during the initial import, what exactly does the "Historical Progressing Options" do? Specifically the "Recalc player ratings based on real stats after each year"? Kenny V |

Can someone please tell me which column G_batting is in the batting.csv? I don't have anything on this pc that will allow me to open the Access database (too large). It doesn't seem to be the 3rd or 4th column, more likely the 6th or 7th.
They seem to have forgotten a ReadMe.Txt file this year, so this may be the first surprise I bump into. Can someone also tell me what this new column is that I'll be deleting? Thanks! |

Figman,
I was able to to modify the .CSV file of the database (removing Column G) using a borrowed version of Excel 2007. If your interested, PM me and I'll e-mail it to you Maybe I can find a place online so you can download it. Kenny V |

Thanks, Kenny. I can have a neighbor delete the column for me. I thought G_batting was the column name. I see from your post that it's the position. Column g, i.e., the 7th column. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks again! I'll post here if I have any more problems. I use his database in a java web app I wrote for personal use and each year the data is a bit different, and I need to make some changes. Usually there's a Readme.txt file included, not this year (yet?).

That's what I thought too. I paged through it using TextPad and didn't see anything. My friend checked for me in Access (he was going to delete the 7th column for me) and found 12,093 rows having different values in those 2 columns (out of 92,706 rows). I'm assuming it's something new and that the other columns are the same as last year.. In the past the files had header records showing the layout.

Can one of the more experienced members just set this up properly and provide a link to it?

the batting.csv has two new fields
G_Batting = games where a player had a plate appearance G_old = sorta self explanatory G_old is the last column in the batting.csv The new Fielding.csv has 4 or 5 new columns as well and one (ZR) has moved to the last column with the new ones inserted ahead of it. |

However, as I understand how most people play OOTP, having the latest year of stats probably doesn't make much of a difference.
