When I was rehabbing my right arm I had to do a lot of hand-strengthening exercises for about eighteen months. My handshake got so strong as a result that I now have to be really careful to shake hands very, very gently. Otherwise I hurt people.

Notwithstanding your aggravation, I don't see how this is a shortcoming when in real life players go on the DL for sneezing, falling off a bicycle, playing pick up basketball, cutting a hand while slicing canteloupe, fights in locker rooms, etc.

I try not to focus on what caused the injury as much as the fact that he's injured and I'm glad that the game tries to incorporate stupid real life things that can happen.
