Question for Markus?
I tend to do a whole lot of pick-off attempts when playing OOTP, and for some reason EVERY time i throw to third base and get him, the third baseman ALWAYS drops the ball.
At first I didn't notice it, but now it's just getting insane. My third baseman has dropped the ball...I'm guessing the last 20 times in a row when I get a guy at third base (that's in 3 seasons combined). I have yet to pick a man off at third. Why is this??

Well that part of it needs a more diverse play by play Id assume.
You are doing better than I am. I cant ever recall picking someone off at any base and Im in my 3rd season. |

I'm sure ootp sends out that plp text randomly (to add variety) or maybe it's based on the percentage of attempts made. Since you are attempting more pick offs than usual, you will see that specific message more often.
In reality though, it's the same as 'not' picking the player off. It most likely doesn't affect the actually number of successful pick-offs. |

I have tested this, but this does not happen here. The text category for this event is filled with 30+ entries, so I have no idea why you're seeing the same text all the time

What is likely happening is that the sim engine has determined the outcome - SAFE - and then chooses one of 30+ texts that correspond with that outcome. The dropped ball text just happens to be one of those 30+ choices for a "SAFE" outcome. |

The text category for this event, in fact, has 40+ entries. Moments ago, I modified the usage %-age of the "dropped ball" entry. It should now be used even less often than once per 40 instances.
