EDIT: Or if you actually want to change his ratings, go into the editor (you can do this from it) and make sure he has at least 3 quality pitches and decent enough stamina.

It can be done this way, just not directly. You have to edit stamina and/or pitches. Start with stamina. If that isn't enough, give him another pitch. Raise the pitch ratings of pitches that he has. As you make adjustments like these, you will see his "suggested role" change in the Editor. You should also check to be sure you aren't overdoing it (i.e., making him a superstar in the process).
What I have found is that it is easier to change an RP to a regular SP, but harder to find the sweet spot to make someone a borderline or emergency starter. |

Thanks guys. I think I'm just going to "set position to". I don't want to change his stats but need another starter and this guy looks like he will do ok.

With each new version, I discover months after release that there are several new things/features that I overlooked.
That's why it's so nice that there are many friendly people here who will answer questions.

I learn more just hanging out here. In the last week Le Grand Orange taught me the fun of randomizing player names in a historical league and MD taught me to turn off injuries in Spring Training. Without this place I could have played this game forever and never thought of those two tricks.
