Salary hit with big contracts?
OK, so I have a guy (lets call him Jack Cust) who is owed a ridiculous $18.5 M over the next 5 years. I know there is a hit if you just drop him but what is that hit exactly? Any help would be greatly appreciated, unfortunately, I don't think any teams are going to take on this worthless pile. Thanks!

If you cut him, you pay him.
The amount that he's owed for the remainder of the contract.

Try waiving the guy and see if any sucker takes him. Otherwise you are obligated for his full contract. If he is an older player he may retire and then you only have to pay him for the years he is on your team.
Shouldn't this post be in the OOTPX forum? Last edited by SandMan; 02-04-2010 at 03:36 PM. |

When you release a player there is a confirmation boxwhich gives you the option to confrim/cancel before it is completed. If the player has a remaining salary it will have that number in the box. Check that out and you can cancel if you don't want to take the hit.
