No draft still produces new players?

I recall reading somewhere that even if you selected 0 rounds for the draft and create 0 rounds worth of players the game still creates x number of players and puts them into free agency...that still true? I couldn't find that thread anywhere. What I'm trying to do is simulate Independant League baseball, where the teams don't have a draft but sign free agents who are released from MLB or MiLB.

Well if you turn the draft off you still get free agents generated every year. I think the amount depends on the size of the league.

Ok that's what I thought so I've resorted to just having a single round draft limiting the influx of "new" players into that league hoping the majority of players will come from the existing free agent pool (players not wanted by the MLB teams). Thanks much for confirming this.

Yes the game produces new players to replace the retired ones.

I would imagine if you only have an ammy draft of 1 round you may still find that the game will still produce more players, but I don't have any facts to back that clam.

Duh.don't know why I haven't thought of this earlier, but I should just change all the player creation modifiers to .001. This will result in nothing but garbage being created for the 1 round draft, and forcing 99.9% of the talent to come from the FA market.

If you turn finances off and drafts to 0 then no players are generated. I have a league with small rosters so I produce my own rookies after each season.

Hmmm...that's interesting that the finances on/off switch would have an affect on whether or not rookies get created. Not really an option for me because I play with finances and free agency in my universe but interesting and worth exploring nonetheless. thanks. Maybe some other weird combination of options will produce the same result.

I forced a league to create players over 50 years old, and set the league rules to only allow players between 16 and 48 to play.

I didn't think the min/max age rules worked for non-feeder leagues?
