Real life imitates OOTP!
![]() "First baseman Travis Ishikawa tore two ligaments in his left foot in a mishap at home three weeks ago and probably won't participate in workouts until early March. Ishikawa, who hurt himself by slipping while descending a stairway, described the injury as an extreme case of "turf toe."" Giants get mixed injury news | SFGiants.com: News

Sanchez's optimism was offset by ominous news surrounding first baseman Travis Ishikawa, who tore two ligaments in his left foot three weeks ago as he slipped while descending stairs at his Danville, Calif., home. Ishikawa acknowledged that surgery, which could sideline him for three months, is a remote possibility if the tears don't heal properly. "As soon as I get home, we're going to level the second story," Ishikawa said, mustering humor.

Mine, anyways.
Working toward 30 years of playing out every inning of every game (except spring training games, I sim those). I feel like it's my whole life. ![]() What fun though. I still remember the first (and only) no-hitter I've thrown, and the pulse was racing just like watching a real game. Watching my draft choices develop, (or not... ), experiencing every home run, strikeout, win, or save of a career.Interesting story, my very first season, in my very first month, I lost about 8 or 9 games in April in the last inning, in fact IIRC I posted about here (would've been about two years ago I guess in real time lol[EDIT: Yep, here's the thread. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...nightmare.html May of 2008. And still playing that OOTP8 league]). So, after that first season, my first free agent acquisition was a closer. Signed up a guy that threw in the mid 90's with green ratings accross the board. He became my closer in 1902, and stayed. And stayed. And stayed. He turned 40 years old in 1914, and was nearing 400 career saves. So, after the 1914 season, I was crossing my fingers hoping he wouldn't retire as I wanted him to reach 400 saves. He didn't retire. He also didn't in 1915, 1916, 1917, or 1918. Finally, at the age of 45, he retired. With 505 career saves. Sometimes OOTP outdoes RL with it's stories. I'll switch to my laptop and post a screen shot. EDIT: Here's his screenshot, as he's now a member of the Hall of Fame.

As for mom, well, she's still a ton of fun. She's excited about another season to be upon us, and watches The Baseball Network daily. Just don't be in the room whenever ANYTHING do with the Phillies comes up. You'll be sure to here a few chosen words that could make a sailor blush. I mean even if the word Phillies just scrolls accross the bottom of the screen the room will go from complete silence to at least a GD Phillies outburst. Two years in a row they've ousted her beloved Dodgers, and man oh man they're in her dog house now. They're deeper in there than even I managed a few times in my youth with some of my transgressions. I actually feel sorry for them. And my ears whenever they're brought up. ![]() EDIT: It was so bad, that I saw something I thought I'd NEVER SEE in my lifetime. During the World Series, she actually rooted FOR THE YANKEES! I don't think I need to tell you how hated the Yankees were, as she was a big fan during the years when a Dodgers/Yankees World Series was a regular thing, with the Yankees winning also a regular thing. But I swear, the Phillies are now below the Yankees on her list. At first I thought she'd just skip the World Series. Nope, hooped and hollered FOR THE YANKEES! (Still can't believe it, and saw it with my own four eyes)
