Keeping an inactive league

I want to create a league in 1871. Move all teams to the National League.
Add 1 team to make a total of 9. Now once i create a schedule and sim the game should only import the NL teams if i have it that way in the database.
I will make the American Association into the AL.
Now im thinking the game will see the AL as a bunch of expansion teams when it appears in 1882 & 1901. But will i lose any records from those years when there would be no teams in the AL? Basically i want the AL to be inactive from say 1871-1881, 1892-1901.
Would the game just see it as a dormat league as long as i have schedules for the NL only during that period.
The game will allow odd number of teams after the inital league setup. You can expand to an odd number of teams but you just cant start with an odd number of teams.
I just figure that the NA was really the forerunner of the NL and the AA the same with AL. Since i dont want separate records i dont see the need in having the NA renamed into the NL. Its more the league structure i want to duplicate.

Never mind. All i needed to do was import a schedule for 1 league.
