It's 2020 and all of the teams in my league are cash rich

I started a historical league in 1999 and it's now 2020. I honestly haven't been paying too much attention to the financial situation of the league, except to note that after winning a lot of World Series as Kansas City, I never seemed to have any money problems, always being able to sign anyone at any time. It's only the last few years that I look around the league and notice everyone has a massive amount of free cash. Almost every team in the league has a balance of 100m+ every year. They can only carry over 8m each year, but most teams have a budget of around 180m. You'd think this would cause player salaries to sky rocket, but I haven't really noticed that. Top player salaries 25m, 24m, 20m, 19m, 19m, 18m, 18m, 17m, 17m, 15m, 15m, etc.

Nothing looks really wonky in the financial setup.
Avg attendance 30k
Ticket Price 22.50
Media Rev: 43m
Cash Max 8m
Super Star 11m

So is this normal? My OOTP is fully patched. Is there an alternate financials.txt file I should be downloading to get future accuracy?

I generally use a Cash cap to prevent this. I use $15 million for my online league, meaning that any cash over $15 million at the end of each season is eliminated. However, we roll it into a Savings account that is to be used for draftee signing bonuses and other stuff the game doesn't actually do.

Your problem is pretty common though, my league would have the same problem because look @ the amounts over 15 million in cash that I have already eliminated from the game and rolled into savings.

Savings Accounts

And that's just in 3 seasons... so I can see why you're having a big problem by 2020. Turn the Cash cap on!!!

Where is this "Cash Cap" to be found? I don't see it as an option under League Setup -> Rules -> Financial Rules

I see a Salary Cap, a Soft Cap %, and a Cash Maximum.

My guess is that he is talking about the Cash Maximum.

He's already using an $8 million Cash Max (as shown in initial post).

Didn't even notice that, I must have been reading what I wanted to. When he said everyone had huge "balances" I just assumed cash.

I guess what we're really looking at then isn't balances, it's a ton of budget space, am I right? If so, I guess the first thing to do is drop Media Revenues. And maybe drop average attendance. If this isn't enough then adjust the salary settings to have guys ask for more money.

Sorry my initial post wasn't any help!

It would definitely be nice if settings liked this worked better out of the box. I know different people want different things, but there are certain areas (like finances) that get a lot of complaints.

Yes. The issue, I believe, is that Cash Maximum doesn't come into play at the end of the season, where it wipes out all extra cash above the Cash Maximum. Up until that point, teams can accumulate all the cash in the world. Which seems to then affect how far above the budget you can go.

So, I just start having to use house rules to make things more challenging for myself. But that sort've bums me out, I'd rather the system could handle it for me.
